The Ride for Life exists because people have decided not to look away. Because researchers spend nights working on studies to make a therapy better. Because a children's hospice is needed to give families space to breathe.

The Ride for Life Association is the organizational and conceptual home of the project.
Founded to provide long-term support for people with cancer and their families - through encounters, solidarity and shared commitment.
What we want:
The Ride for Life association is more than just an organization. It is the home of an idea that was born on the Gotthard Pass in 2010 and has not stopped growing since. Back then it was still called Race for Life. One hundred riders, one pass road, one promise: We will not leave people with cancer alone. One hundred became thousands. A mountain pass became a movement. A race became something bigger: a place of encounter, solidarity and joie de vivre. The Ride for Life.
What drives us
We believe that solidarity is more than just a word. That community is created when people pedal for each other. That one day on a bike can achieve more than a thousand well-intentioned pieces of advice. And that people with cancer don't need pity, but real support. Together with our partner organizations, we create tangible values: encounters that help. Research that gives hope. Moments of joie de vivre that last. And donations that arrive where they are most urgently needed.
What we stand for
We make people with cancer visible - on the track, at the festival, in society. We create a community that you can feel. We promote a culture of mindfulness in which cancer is not a taboo. We promote health awareness and early detection. And we collect donations for projects that directly benefit people with cancer and their families.
The team
There is no apparatus behind the Ride for Life. It's people who invest hundreds of hours alongside their jobs and families - because they are convinced that this day will make a difference. In route planning and on the stage. In the kitchen and in the back office. On the bike and behind the camera. Each with their own story, their own reason, their own drive.
Over 4.2 million francs of hope
Since 2010, together we have raised over 4.2 million francs for people with cancer. flow to our partner organizations, which provide help where it is most urgently needed: In research that makes a cure possible. In studies that improve therapies. In the support of children and families. And in exchanges that support survivors.
Tomorrow's therapies are tested here today. Independent, scientifically excellent, directly on people. So that patients get better chances faster.
Every year, 48,000 people in Switzerland are diagnosed with cancer. For them, everything hinges on one question: is there a therapy that works? This is precisely what the Swiss Cancer Institute (SCI, formerly SAKK) is working on.
The SCI is the leading organization for independent clinical cancer research in Switzerland. Together with all university hospitals and numerous cantonal and regional hospitals, the SCI researches new cancer therapies - independently, with scientific excellence, directly on people. 20 research groups are working on studies in 13 specialist areas, from the most common types of cancer to rare diseases.
The findings of these studies set standards for better therapies with greater efficacy and fewer side effects. The aim is to give patients a better chance of recovery and a better quality of life.
The donations from the Ride for Life go towards funding these clinical trials.
Innovative research needs courage - for unconventional approaches, for young researchers, for ideas that could one day defeat cancer. The Swiss Cancer Foundation makes exactly that possible.
The foundation promotes basic, translational and clinical research - and deliberately focuses on projects that break new ground. From immunotherapy, which makes tumor cells visible to the immune system, to the digital second opinion portal for testicular cancer patients: The Swiss Cancer Foundation invests where the greatest leverage for progress lies.

Where relief is given space

Do you know a child who loves cycling and has a big heart? Then Kids4Kids is just the thing. Children ride for children who are less well off - on a safe circuit directly on the Bernexpo site. With helmet, start number and a lot of pride.
The donations go to the allani children's hospice in Bern. And the memory of this day? They will last a lifetime.
Are you there - no matter how? Whether on two wheels, on a handbike, in a wheelchair or accompanied on foot: The Heartbeat Ride on the Bernexpo site doesn't ask about ability, fitness or category. It only asks if your heart beats. And it does.

Register as a single rider or your team as a team captain. The participation fee is CHF 50 per rider. Children and young people up to the age of 16 ride for free.
Why are you driving? For whom? Tell us on your personal fundraising page. A photo, a few sentences, a reason - that will do more than any appeal for donations.
Share your page with family, friends and colleagues. Your donations will go to our partner organizations: Swiss Cancer Institute, Swiss Cancer Foundation and allani Children's Hospice Bern.
You decide which route you ride on site. From the heart lap on the area to the courage lap over 30 km through the Lindental - every lap is a sign. And every meter brings hope to the road.
