Heart Workers 2026

Support us as a volunteer

Every year, 48,000 people in Switzerland are diagnosed with cancer. Many of them feel alone. Ride for Life shows them: You are not alone. We are here.

At the Ride for Life, participants pedal against cancer and collect donations for those affected and for cancer research. But the bike is just a symbol.

The most important thing is you - with your time, your smile, your presence.

Your commitment shows: No one fights alone.

A day that connects

We work together

People with cancer don't need empty phrases. They need concrete help. A coffee that arrives at the right time. A smile at check-in. A helping hand during set-up. Someone who is simply there.

As a Heart Worker, you are exactly that: There. Present. Part of something bigger.

The BERNEXPO site becomes a festival site. People ride bikes, dance, cry, laugh - all at the same time. You make sure that this day works. That people feel seen. That no one is alone.

What you can expect

Your commitment

As a Heart Worker, you are part of a day that gives people hope. So that you know what you are getting yourself into, we have summarized the most important things here.

Whether at check-in, on the route, in catering or backstage - your work varies, but one thing remains the same: You show people that they are not alone.

Here you can find out what your day could look like, what you should bring with you and what we have in store for you.

01

What you need

A heart in the right place. And the willingness to be on your feet for a day. The instructions are given in German - but the most important language is your presence.

02

What you bring with you

Sporty, comfortable clothing and shoes, sun protection and rain protection for all eventualities. You will receive a volunteering T-shirt from the OC.

03

Where you are needed

Everywhere. At check-in, where people arrive. On the route where they drive. At the bar, where they take a deep breath. Backstage, where artists are nervous. Exactly where you are needed.

04

Your working days

You choose your assignment from different shifts:

  • Set-up day Friday, 29.5. between 08.00 - 19.00 h
  • Event day Saturday, 29.5. between 08.30 - 02.00 h
  • Dismantling day Sunday, 29.5. between 09.00 - 17.00 h

You decide when and for how long you want to work.

05

Your catering

You will be provided with drinks, snacks and meals on site. You arrange the breaks with your group leader.

06

Your journey

We recommend that you travel by public transport (Wankdorf station, streetcar 9 Guisanplatz Expo). Parking BERNEXPO is available (with costs)

What you get

And especially important

Catering (from an assignment of at least 4 hours) and a volunteer T-shirt. But you don't get the most important things from us:

  • The feeling of being needed.
  • The certainty that you have made someone's day easier.
  • The memory of a day when you were part of something bigger.
Where you can work

Your work area

Everyone brings something different to the table. Some like to lend a hand, others have a sympathetic ear. Some are talented organizers, others are talented with their hands, others create a good atmosphere.
Tell us where your heart beats - and we will find the right place for you as a Heartworker.
